Angina, also known as angina pectoris, is chest pain or pressure, usually due to insufficient blood flow to the heart muscle (myocardium). Angina is usually due to obstruction or spasm of the arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle. Angina is a symptom of coronary artery disease. Angina feels like squeezing, pressure, heaviness, tightness or pain in the chest. It can be sudden or recur over time.
